NASCUS President and CEO, Lucy Ito to Be Honored at Herb Wegner Memorial Awards

The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) has announced the honorees of their 33^rd annual Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, which highlight a range of individual and organizational achievements in the credit union industry.

Lucy Ito, President & CEO of NASCUS (VA), and Roger Heacock, retired President & CEO of Black Hills Federal Credit Union (SD), will receive the Outstanding Individual Achievement award, while Faith Based Credit Union Alliance (IL) will receive the Outstanding Organization award.

In recognition of its global efforts to unite financial industries in irradicating racism, Georgia-based African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) will also receive the Foundation’s Anchor Award.

The accolades will be presented at the Foundation Dinner – the Foundation’s primary fundraising gala – on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C., held in conjunction with the Credit Union National Association’s Governmental Affairs Conference.

“These awards celebrate the innovators and modern-day pioneers of the credit union movement,” said Gigi Hyland, executive director of the Foundation.

“These are the individuals and institutions revolutionizing the credit union system through living and embodying our founding principles and values. Their tireless work ignites and inspires all of us in our journey to make financial freedom achievable to all through credit unions. And, not to overstate the obvious, we are thrilled to be celebrating in-person, once again, in 2022.”
