Georgia’s Oscar “Bo” Fears Appointed to the NASCUS Regulator Board

ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) is pleased to announce a one-year appointment of Oscar “Bo” Fears III, with the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, to the NASCUS Regulator Board of Directors.

Fears brings extensive regulatory, legal, and leadership experience to the NASCUS Board. He currently serves as the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, where he oversees the agency’s administration, policy and procedure development, information technology, security, and project management functions.

Fears joined the department in 2013 as the Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs, providing legal guidance and operational support across the agency. Prior to his regulatory career, he served for 16 years in the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, including as group leader for the Business and Finance Section within the Commercial Transactions and Litigation Division. Additionally, Fears earned a B.A. in history from Emory University and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.

“Bo’s deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, coupled with more than two decades of legal and financial oversight experience, makes him an invaluable addition to the NASCUS Regulator Board,” said NASCUS President & CEO Brian Knight. “We appreciate his commitment to serve and look forward to the added strength and partnership he brings to the state credit union system.”

The NASCUS Regulator Board is composed of state credit union regulators from across the country. It is responsible for advancing the safety, soundness, and viability of the state credit union system in conjunction with the NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council, composed of credit union members.
