Agenda Topics Announced for NASCUS' IT Forum in September

July 7, 2008 - At NASCUS’ First Information Technology (IT) Forum, participants can choose between basic/intermediate and intermediate/advanced sessions or combine the sessions into a four and one-half day IT school. Safety and soundness examiners through IT subject matter examiners will benefit from the learning opportunities that this forum delivers.

Tom Schauer, CEO of TrustCC and frequent NASCUS speaker, along with seasoned state IT examiners will explain the essentials of compliance and regulatory IT examinations. The initial session covers topics such as AIRES questionnaires, IT policies and practices, risk assessments and board and management involvement. The intermediate to advanced sessions will cover IT auditing, member online services, network architecture, encryption and remote access and wireless connectivity. For a full
list of topics, click here.

The forum is designed to enhance examiners’ knowledge of the various aspects of a credit union IT exam. Examiners will walk away with a more complete picture of credit union IT operations, as well as practical ideas of what to look for when examining a credit union IT program. Credit union staff can also benefit from these classes by learning what IT issues concern examiners. For more information on this school, contact Ryan Taylor at ryan@nascus.org.
