July 29, 2008 - Michael E. Fryzel took the oath of office for the chairmanship of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) on July 29. The oath was administered in Chicago, Illinois by the Honorable Lee Preston, Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court.
Fryzel, a former Illinois state regulator, follows JoAnn Johnson who served as NCUA Chairman since 2004 and as a Board member since 2001.
“I am grateful to the President for this opportunity to serve,” said Chairman Fryzel in a statement released by the NCUA. “To be the NCUA Chairman is a tremendous honor and I pledge to work to the best of my ability to fulfill the trust that has been placed in me.”
