Texas CU Department Issues Advisory for SCUs in Hurricane Dolly Path

July 23, 2008 - In a July 22 advisory, the Texas Credit Union Department (TCUD) encouraged its state-chartered credit unions (SCUs) affected by Hurricane Dolly to take precautions and advise the state agency of their needs following the hurricane’s landfall.

Around 2 p.m. EDT on July 23, Hurricane Dolly made landfall on South Padre Island, Texas with winds reaching 120 mph. In its advisory, TCUD reminds SCUs of their authority to close offices threatened by an emergency if the Department is notified as promptly as possible.

TCUD also asks that SCUs contact the Department with any damages and to work with any members in a constructive manner to assist with recovery. TCUD reported to NASCUS on July 23 that three SCUs are in the direct path of the hurricane and that one office had already closed temporarily due to the storm.
