Regulator Nominating Committee Update Regarding NASCUS Board of Directors Vacancies

May 27, 2008 - The NASCUS Nominating Committee has been appointed and met to discuss the 2008 NASCUS Board vacancies. This year, three three-year Director terms will expire.

The Nominating Committee will present a slate of candidates to the NASCUS Board and NASCUS Regulator members will be notified of the slate 60 days prior to the Annual Meeting. Regulator members may self-nominate by petitions for nomination signed by 10 percent of the NASCUS regulator membership. The Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 in Seattle, Washington at the 2008 State System Summit.

There are several obligations NASCUS Board members are asked to fulfill. The Board meets three times a year, in February, May and August during the NASCUS Summit. NASCUS pays Board Members’ expenses associated with participating in these meetings except for meetings during the NASCUS Summit. The NASCUS Board of Directors represents the views and interests of the member agencies. This necessitates pro-active communication with members and the solicitation of views of members on a variety of issues that impact state regulators.

The members of the Nominating Committee are Sandy Branson (MO), Linda Jekel (WA) and Mary Ellen O’Neill (CT).
