Pennsylvania Examiners and Credit Union CEO Lead Small Credit Union IT Issues Webinar

April 9, 2008 - On April 8, small credit union staff and regulators participated in a webinar focused on managing a small credit union’s information technology (IT) program. The event featured speakers Charles Martier and Jerry Wyland, examiners from the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Debbie Peters, Incol Credit Union CEO.

The webinar included an overview of a small credit union’s IT infrastructure and the information security risks associated with that infrastructure. The presenters highlighted preparing for an IT exam, touching on topics including AIRES questionnaires, risk assessments and vendor due diligence. Wyland stressed to attendees that these issues and controls won’t get any easier, so it is important for credit union staff to be aware of security issues and solutions. The webinar concluded with a list of exam considerations, including due diligence, measurable goals and a reminder about the importance of a trained and knowledgeable staff.
