February 22, 2008 - Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm announced the appointment of Ken Ross as the commissioner of the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS) on February 22.
Ross, most recently the acting commissioner of the agency, was OFIS’ deputy commissioner for policy. He also served as vice president of regulatory and legislative affairs for the Michigan Credit Union League. Ross follows Linda Watters, who resigned in October 2007. His appointment is effective immediately.
“Ken’s tremendous knowledge of complex financial and insurance issues and his tireless work as a public servant will ensure that OFIS continues to serve Michigan’s citizens,” Granholm said in a February 22 press release. “As commissioner, he will use his successful leadership skills and expertise to ensure that the agency continues to provide fair but firm regulation along with a high degree of consumer protection.”
