ARLINGTON, Va. — NASCUS association and credit union leadership will gather in Washington, D.C., November 8-9, for NASCUS’ Executive Committees Meetings.
The Executive Committees meet annually to review strategic priorities for the upcoming year and discuss current issues with area regulatory and credit union representatives. The chairs and officers of the NASCUS Board of Directors and Credit Union Executive Council are the members of the NASCUS Executive Committees.
During this year’s session, meetings are scheduled with National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman JoAnn Johnson, NCUA Board member and NASCUS Liaison Gigi Hyland and NCUA senior staff. The group will also meet with U.S. Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions David Nason and representatives from the House Financial Services and the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committees. Additionally, NASCUS management will brief the Executive Committees on NASCUS projects and progress on strategic initiatives.
“The annual meetings of our Executive Committees are an important opportunity for our leadership to plan and strategize for the upcoming year,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “We also value the in-person meetings with federal regulators, officials and policymakers in the Washington, D.C. area.”
The association Executive Committee members are Chairman George Reynolds, senior deputy commissioner of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance; Chairman-elect Tom Candon, deputy commissioner of the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities & Health Care Administration; Secretary/Treasurer Harold Feeney, commissioner of the Texas Credit Union Department; and Past Chairman Linda Jekel, director of the Washington Division of Credit Unions.
The Credit Union Executive Council officers are Chairman Mendell Thompson, president and CEO, America’s Christian Credit Union, Glendora, California; Chairman-elect Parker Cann, president and CEO, Columbia Credit Union, Vancouver, Washington; Secretary Cathie Tierney, president and CEO, Community First Credit Union, Appleton, Wisconsin; and Past Chairman Lori Rush, president and CEO, Universal 1 Credit Union, Dayton, Ohio.
