NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council Chair Jo Anne Fillwock Retires; Mendell Thompson Assumes Role as Council Chairman

ARLINGTON, VA Jo Anne Fillwock, president and CEO of Option 1 Credit Union in Lansing, Michigan, announced that she will be stepping down as NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council Chairman due to her retirement from the credit union industry on December 31, 2006.

Mendell Thompson, president and CEO of America’s Christian Credit Union, the Council’s chair-elect, assumed the role of Chairman effective December 12, 2006.

Fillwock, one of the longest sitting NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council Board members, has been in the credit union industry for more than 30 years. She has served as president and CEO of Option 1 Credit Union (formerly Financial Health Credit Union) since 1986. She has served on the NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council Board since 1996.

“Jo Anne has been such an integral part of NASCUS’ growth over the years,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “Her passionate advocacy for dual chartering and the viability of the state charter has been a source of tremendous leadership for this organization. She will be missed.”

Thompson was appointed to the Credit Union Advisory Council Board of Directors in 2000. He has been at America’s Christian Credit Union for 29 years, serving as its president and CEO since 1986.

“I’m honored to serve as the Council Chairman and to be involved with the significant leadership of NASCUS,” said Thompson. “I look forward to continuing NASCUS’ work for the state charter.”
