ARLINGTON, VA — NASCUS association and credit union leadership will gather in Washington, D.C. for NASCUS’ Executive Committees Meetings, November 7-9, 2006.
The Executive Committees gather annually to discuss strategic priorities for the upcoming year and to meet with area regulatory and credit union representatives. The NASCUS Executive Committees are composed of the chairs and officers of the NASCUS Board of Directors and the Credit Union Advisory Council Board of Directors.
“The Executive Committees’ meetings are an excellent opportunity for NASCUS’ leadership to plan and strategize for the upcoming year,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “We also look forward to meeting with federal regulators, officials and policymakers based in the Washington, D.C. area to discuss current and emerging issues affecting state regulatory agencies and state-chartered credit unions.”
Over the three days, the association Executive Committee will meet with National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman JoAnn Johnson, Vice Chair Rodney Hood and Board member Gigi Hyland as well as NCUA senior staff to discuss current issues pertinent to state regulators.
The Committees will also address priorities for the upcoming year and discuss current NASCUS projects including the Congressional request for data on the state credit union system. In addition, the group will focus on other NASCUS initiatives such as strengthening state regulatory agencies and enhancing corporate governance practices.
The association Executive Committee members are Chair Linda Jekel, director of credit unions for the state of Washington; Chair-elect Ken Roberts, acting deputy superintendent for the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions; Secretary/Treasurer Harold Feeney, commissioner, Texas Credit Union Division; and Immediate Past Chair Roger Little, deputy commissioner, Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services.
The Credit Union Advisory Council Executive Committee includes Chair Jo Anne Fillwock, president of Option 1 Credit Union in Lansing, Michigan; Chair-elect Mendell Thompson, president of America’s Christian Credit Union in Glendora, California; Secretary Parker Cann, president of Columbia Credit Union in Vancouver, Washington; and C. Michael Litzau, vice president of Sooper Credit Union in Arvada, Colorado.
NASCUS Board members Jerrie Lattimore, administrator of the North Carolina Credit Union Division, and Tom Candon, deputy commissioner of the Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration, are also participating in some of the association’s Executive Committee meetings.
