Special Invitation to the NASCUS 2011 State System Summit

A special message from Mary Martha Fortney, President and CEO,
June 2011

This fall, the nation's state credit union regulators and state credit union executives will gather in Chicago at NASCUS' State System Summit - the only meeting where credit unions and regulators work together to keep the state credit union system safe and strong.

Partnership opportunities between credit unions and regulators like this Summit have always been essential to an innovative and healthy state credit union system. It's also what makes NASCUS so unique.

Opportunities for collaboration such as our Summit are especially important today as credit unions and consumers across the nation continue the climb out of a historically deep economic downturn.  This is why, I, along with the NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council members and NASCUS Board of Directors, personally invite you to put your NASCUS membership to work and join us in Chicago, September 14-16, 2011 to be a part of a meeting that will help shape the state credit union system's future.

We are conscious of the economic environment facing credit unions and have worked to make the Summit as accessible as possible. Credit unions can register for the early bird rate of $695 and bring along another representative from your credit union for half price. Credit unions under $20 million in assets can join us for just $199. State agencies can also take advantage of a special rate or apply for a scholarship by contacting isaida@nascus.org.

During the Summit, we will have the nation's experts on hand to share the latest information on the most pertinent issues facing state credit unions. On the agenda are such issues as:

  • The changing credit union examination,
  • The role of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,
  • Making supplemental capital a reality,
  • The future of the corporate system, and:
  • The risks associated with new business accounts, emerging fraud trends and more.

Most importantly, attendees will have three days worth of opportunities for essential dialogue and information sharing between and among state regulators and state credit unions.

I hope to see you in Chicago. To see more about the Summit agenda, lodging and to register, click here.  If you have any questions, please let me know at marymartha@nascus.org.
