Annual School for State Examiners - 2009
July 7 - 10, 2009
Boulder, Colorado
The NASCUS Annual School for State Examiners will take place July 7 – 10, 2009 in Boulder, Colorado at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business. The Annual School is the one NASCUS education event for regulators-only, allowing for open regulator-to-regulator discussion on the most pressing issues and challenges facing state examiners. The 2009 school features a new agenda focusing on educating examiners on a variety of need-to-know topics.

The school includes three half-day sessions of diverse training for state examiners:
• Tracy Ashfield, executive vice president, Strategic Mortgage Solutions, will present mortgage lending trends, updating examiners on the latest developments in this fast changing part of the credit union industry.
• David Reed, founder, CU Doctor, will present a half-day session on due diligence. He will discuss loan participations, vendor management and other critical credit union due diligence issues. Reed will take a broad look at what credit unions should be doing and what examiners should look for at the credit unions they examine.
• Tom Schauer, CEO, TrustCC, will lead a session on information technology (IT) compliance. Schauer will give examiners ready-to-use guidelines to assist them during an examination. Schauer’s session will focus on practical suggestions that even less IT savvy examiners can utilize to ensure that their credit unions are safe and secure.

A popular session from past Annual School agendas, a forum with credit union management, is included on this year’s agenda. The forum allows examiners and senior credit union personnel to have candid discussion about examinations and the interaction between credit union examiners and credit union staff. Please see the agenda for a complete list of sessions.

NASCUS invites all state examiners to attend this great education event. Early registration, which expires May 29, is $1,149 and includes lodging and most meals.
