'Prize-linked' savings comes to Wisconsin
Dec. 1, 2017 -- Gov. Scott Walker (R) has signed into law Assembly Bill 283, which authorizes credit unions, state-chartered banks and other savings institutions to conduct prize-linked savings promotions, designed to encourage regular contributions to a savings account by offering entries into a drawing for a prize with each deposit.

Lawmakers adopt modernization bill
Feb. 16, 2016 -- The state assembly has voted unanimously to pass AB 807, which would, in part, allow the state regulatory office (Office of Credit Unions) to accept a federal examination for the purpose of satisfying the 18-month exam requirement (CU Journal).

April 17, 2014 – Madison, Wis. – Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed a package of credit union regulatory reforms into law Wednesday—action that will ease regulatory burden for the state's credit unions and remove barriers they face when serving their memberships.

Wisconsin Letter Reminds Credit Unions of Their Responsibility Regarding Refunding of Unearned Guaranteed Asset Protection Charges and/or Credit Insurance Premiums
January 8, 2014 – Madison, Wis. – A Jan. 8, 2014 letter to credit unions, signed by Kim Santos, director of the Wisconsin Office of Credit Unions, was sent to remind all credit unions of their responsibility regarding the refunding of the unearned Guaranteed Asset Protection ("GAP") charges and/or credit insurance premiums when an installment sales contract purchased by the credit union prepays or terminates early. Section 424.205(3), Wis. Stats., requires a creditor to promptly make or cause to be made an appropriate refund of the unearned credit insurance premium when a consumer credit transaction with credit insurance is prepaid in full or insurance written on a consumer credit transaction terminates prior to its maturity date (i.e., repossessions or early lease terminations).
