FFIEC Uniform HMDA Resubmission Guidelines

August 2017

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) has issued new guidelines for examiner testing of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data to help evaluate a financial institutions’ compliance with HMDA’s requirements.  NCUA will implement the new guidelines for its examiners starting January 1, 2018. The new guidelines will apply to all data collected or reported on or after that date.

The new guidelines describe how examiners are to validate the accuracy of HMDA data collected by financial institutions and the circumstances in which financial institutions may be directed to correct and resubmit HMDA data. The guidance raises the tolerances for errors before a financial institution is instructed to resubmit its entire HMDA filing.
